Call 112 immediately for chest pain, suspected stroke (facial weakness, slurred speech, sudden arm weakness), severe breathing difficulty, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness, or any life-threatening concern.
Use 116117 if you are statutory-insured, can travel to a Bereitschaftspraxis, can tolerate variable wait times, and have a non-urgent medical problem outside regular GP hours.
Choose DoktorAkut if you are privately insured, a civil-servant aid (Beihilfe) recipient, visiting Munich with travel insurance, or prefer private-care speed and discretion. Particularly useful when you cannot or do not want to travel: elderly residents, parents of sick children, hotel guests, international patients who need an English-speaking physician.
It is free for statutory-insured (GKV) patients. Privately insured patients who use 116117 will be billed by the treating physician per GOÄ.
No. An emergency department has CT scans, surgical teams, and resuscitation capability. DoktorAkut handles non-life-threatening acute care; we will escort you to the appropriate clinic when needed.
Most international travel insurance plans (AXA, Allianz, Bupa, Cigna, World Nomads, etc.) accept detailed GOÄ invoices. We can issue an English invoice on request.
Information on this page is general and does not replace medical advice. In life-threatening emergencies, call 112.
