For family caregivers

The doctor comes to your elderly parents — at home.

No waiting room. No stressful journey to a clinic. No uncertainty about whether your parents can even manage the trip. DoktorAkut is the English-speaking private physician house call service for elderly and care-dependent patients in Munich — experienced in geriatrics, polypharmacy, and dementia. The doctor takes time, coordinates with the care service, and speaks with you as a family member in a full consultation.

When the clinic visit becomes too difficult.

Many elderly people reach a quiet turning point: the walk to the family doctor is too far, the waiting room too crowded, public transport too exhausting, driving no longer safe. At the same time, acute conditions — fever, infections, blood pressure issues, pain after falls, cardiovascular symptoms — become more frequent and more urgent in older age.

If you are an adult child — perhaps living abroad, perhaps in another German city — you know the dilemma: calling the German statutory on-call service (116117) can mean hours of waiting. A trip to the emergency department is often disproportionate and exhausting for the patient. The family GP has no appointment available or is on holiday. DoktorAkut fills that gap with a private physician house call that typically arrives within 60–90 minutes.

We specialize in elderly patients with care levels (Pflegegrad), chronic conditions, dementia and cognitive impairment, in care facilities and assisted-living arrangements, and in situations where you as a family member want a second medical opinion.

What sets this house call apart.

01

Care at every Pflegegrad

We visit patients with any German care level (Pflegegrad) — at home or in a care facility. Treatment is coordinated with the primary physician and the care service, without replacing either.

02

Coordination with care service

On request we send the medical report directly to the care service and the primary physician. Medication changes are documented in writing. The continuity of care is preserved.

03

Time for family consultation

Our physicians take time for a full family consultation — on findings, medications, prognosis, and next steps. In person, by video, or by phone. Particularly important for adult children living abroad.

04

Polypharmacy check

Many elderly patients take seven or more medications in parallel. We review the medication plan for interactions and duplications — on request with a written recommendation to the family GP.

05

Experience with dementia

Our physicians are experienced with dementia and cognitive impairment. Slow speech, clear orientation, calm atmosphere. Family members are actively involved in the examination.

06

Invoice family member directly

On request, the invoice is issued directly to the family member arranging care. Direct debit and tax deduction as an extraordinary expense (außergewöhnliche Belastung) possible.

Five steps for family members.

  1. 01

You write an email or fill in the form.

Patient name, address, symptoms in brief, care level (if known), phone. Family members can request on behalf of the patient — we call back to confirm.

  2. 02

Callback for brief history within 15 minutes.

We clarify pre-existing conditions, current medication, and urgency by phone. If a house call is not appropriate (e.g. clear emergency), we say so — and help arrange an alternative.

  3. 03

Doctor visit at home or care facility.

The physician typically arrives within 60–90 minutes. History, examination, as needed ECG, blood draw, ultrasound, IV infusion. Prescriptions and sick notes are issued on site.

  4. 04

    Family consultation in full.

Before or after the examination we speak with you about findings, prognosis, medication, and next steps. In person, by video, or phone. A written release of confidentiality is obtained if required.

  5. 05

Medical report to care service and GP.

Within 24 hours the care service, GP, and family receive a structured medical report. Medication changes are documented in writing — continuity of care preserved.

Typical cases in elderly patients.

The most common reasons for a senior house call: acute respiratory infections with bronchitis or suspected pneumonia, blood pressure excursions after medication changes, unclear weakness and dizziness, acute pain after falls without suspected fracture, febrile infections with declining general condition, gastroenteritis with dehydration risk, skin infections and wound care, and checks and adjustments for chronic conditions (diabetes, heart failure, COPD).

We carry a full mobile kit: 12-lead ECG, portable ultrasound, blood-draw sets, rapid tests (influenza, SARS-CoV-2, UTI, streptococcus), IV set with rehydration and pain medication, and a small pharmacy of acute medications. If needed, a courier service delivers medications directly to the front door.

For care facilities and assisted-living homes, we offer an additional option: scheduled routine visits at the request of the facility or family. This relieves the primary physician and prevents hours of waiting on the statutory on-call service (116117) in acute situations.

Transparent per GOÄ — from 180 €.

Billing follows the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ). Entry price 180 € per house call. Exact total depends on time of day, day of week, and services rendered. Typical ranges: simple infection without extras ca. 200 €, infection with ECG ca. 240 €, rehydration IV ca. 300 €. A binding estimate is available in writing before treatment.

For privately insured patients (PKV) and civil-servant aid (Beihilfe) generally fully reimbursable. Statutory-insured patients can self-pay — the invoice is tax-deductible as an extraordinary expense. Family members can have the invoice issued directly, with direct debit available. That means you can organize and pay for care — even from abroad — without burdening your parents with paperwork.

What family caregivers ask.

Does the doctor visit seniors with a care level (Pflegegrad)?

Yes. We visit elderly patients with any German care level — at home or in a care facility. Treatment is coordinated with the primary care physician and the care service. Our physicians are experienced with dementia, polypharmacy, and complex geriatric conditions.

How do you coordinate with the care service?

After the visit we send a written medical report to the care service and primary physician — by email or fax. Medication changes are documented in writing; the care service receives clear instructions. Continuity of care is preserved and there are no misunderstandings between the parties.

Can family members be present or dial in?

Absolutely. With the patient's consent, family members can attend in person or join via video/phone. We allow time for a full family consultation — on clinical findings, medications, prognosis, next steps. A written release of confidentiality is obtained if required.

What does a senior house call cost?

Per GOÄ, from 180 €. Exact cost depends on time of day, day of week, and services rendered. Generally fully reimbursable for private health insurance (PKV) and civil-servant aid (Beihilfe). Family members can assume costs and deduct as extraordinary expenses for German tax purposes.

Can family members be invoiced directly?

Yes. On request we issue the invoice directly to the family member who arranges the visit. This lets adult children — including those living abroad — organize and pay for care without burdening the elderly parent. Direct debit is possible.

Do you also visit care facilities?

Yes. We visit seniors in Munich care homes and assisted-living facilities — in coordination with facility management and the primary physician. We are a fast alternative to the statutory on-call service (116117) which often involves hours of waiting, particularly in private homes and assisted-living settings.

We serve every Munich district.

Our core coverage includes all Munich districts — with particular experience in senior-heavy residential areas in the south such as Grünwald, Solln, and Harlaching, as well as established neighborhoods like Bogenhausen, Nymphenburg, Obermenzing, and Trudering. Many older residents also live in central Lehel, Schwabing, and Haidhausen.

For care facilities and assisted-living homes in Munich we offer scheduled routine visits on request. This relieves primary physicians, relieves care staff, and prevents unnecessary hospital admissions.

The information on this page does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. In life-threatening emergencies, call 112 immediately. For urgent medical needs outside our hours, contact the on-call medical service (statutory) at 116117. The family GP remains the primary physician — DoktorAkut supplements care, it does not replace it.

Care for your parents.
