Obermenzing lies in Munich's west around Blutenburg Castle and the Pasinger Stadtpark. From the city centre we reach the district in 20 to 30 minutes — the main approach is Verdistraße, leading north from Pasing and connecting Obermenzing with Untermenzing. From Neuhausen and downtown we come via Menzinger Straße and Pippinger Straße. The A8 motorway towards Stuttgart touches the district to the north at the München-Obermenzing exit, and the A99 to the west.
Public transport: Obermenzing connects to the trunk S-Bahn line via S2 (Obermenzing station) and the adjacent Untermenzing stop. Bus routes 56, 160, 162, 163, and 164 serve the residential areas along Verdistraße and Pippinger Straße. For Blutenburg Castle and the villa quarters we use Blutenburgstraße and Rheinlandsee. Parking in the villa quarters is uncomplicated — most plots have their own driveways. In the denser areas around the S-Bahn station we use public on-street parking; there are no resident permit zones in Obermenzing.
Obermenzing is characterised by generous villa plots, detached houses, and established families — with a high share of privately insured patients and seniors. We frequently treat high blood pressure and hypertensive episodes in the villa quarters: in cases of acute rise we measure, record an ECG, and decide on on-site therapy or hospital admission.
We are also frequently called for acute back pain and lumbago — especially among older homeowners for whom a trip to an orthopaedist after an acute pain event is hard to arrange. And for flu-like infections and bronchitis, where we check respiratory function and oxygen saturation and decide whether antibiotic therapy is indicated or whether symptomatic treatment suffices.
For orientation: south of Obermenzing in Pasing, Helios Klinikum München West (Steinerweg 5) offers an interdisciplinary emergency department and broad specialty coverage — just minutes away. East of the district, Rotkreuzklinikum München (Nymphenburger Straße 163) in Neuhausen adjoins. For university-level maximum care, Klinikum Großhadern of LMU lies to the south. Should inpatient admission become necessary during a house call, we coordinate the referral and hand findings directly to the receiving hospital.
